KIDZVUZ BACK TO SCHOOL EVENT SHOWCASES FAMILY FRIENDLY BRANDS #KIDZVUZBTS
Disclosure: I received a gift bag and product samples at this event. All opinions are my own.
Back to school time is here, and parents and kids need to get prepared. To help parents, KidzVuz hosted its annual Back to School event in Manhattan which showcased a wide variety of brands with products and services for families. I brought my daughter to the event, and she loved the kids’ activities and food samples offered at the booths.
KidzVuz is a free, safe online community exclusively for kids conducted by kids ages 7-12. At KidzVuz.com, kids videotape their reviews of toys, tech, books, fashion, food and more. At the event, KidzVuz TV gave children the opportunity to discuss their favorite toy on TV. My daughter had fun talking about AquaBeads.
At the Fin Fun Mermaid Tails booth we enjoyed hanging out with the mermaids and decorating mermaid-shaped cookies. The brand produces swimmable mermaid tails with fins that can be used as swim gear or costumes. The mermaid tails feature open bottoms to allow air flow. There’s also a quick-release buoyant monofin that can be inserted into the tail to form a flipper to help people swim faster.
At Zandra Beauty we were impressed with 16-year-old entrepreneur Zandra Azariah Cunningham. Zandra started developing her own natural lip balms at age 9. She also produces natural body butters, lotions, soaps, body wash, and more. At her booth Zandra kindly helped my daughter create her own body sugar scrub.
The Love, Hallie Foundation is a partner of the KidzVuz Back to School event. The organization honors 11-year-old Hallie Geier who died in 2004 in an accident. The writings she left behind describes her desire to make a positive impact on the world. Love, Hallie operates online and in a space in Times Square to promote empathy and anti-bullying. It also provides resources for people to improve their communities.
At the Juicy Juice 100% Juice booth we enjoyed tasting the Agua Fresca de Melon drink which uses watermelon and Juicy Juice. The brand makes drinks that contain no added sugar and provides 120% Vitamin C in every 8 oz. serving. We are regular users of Juicy Juice because we like its large flavor selection, quality, and competitive pricing.
Easy Peasy Patches are so fun to use. Easy Peasy Patches were created by a mom who was looking for an easy way to mend her kids’ clothing in a way that would be fun to wear. These permanent fabric stickers require no ironing or sewing. Simply peel off the adhesive backing and onto backpacks, clothing, water bottles, etc. to create a unique style.
My daughter got her face painted with a shooting star space scene at the Galxyz An Intergalactic Science Adventure booth. Galxyz’s launch of Blue Apprentice is the first science-focused interactive game for elementary school kids incorporating Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS). It makes learning science fun, and the company exclusive digital partnership with Popular Science is a great way to introduce science stories to kids ages 6-12.
We tried an air-baked Crispy French Fries recipe made by the Philips Airfryer at the Philips booth. I like the idea that this airfryer allows users to make fried food with up to 75% less fat and without any flavor being compromised.
My daughter had fun decorating a lunch sack with markers via Classroom Direct, a site offering free ideas and resources for grades K-12 such as lesson plans, classroom decorating ideas, communication forms, and more.
We stopped by to try samples at The Backyard Food Company booth. The brand makes its own pickles such as Old Fashioned Traditional Spiced Heirloom Pickle, Occupied Pickle Czech Sweet& Sour Heirloom Pickle, and Brand and Butter Sweet & Tart Heirloom Pickle.
The interactive Pip’s Island display was a big draw for kids. Pip’s Island, coming this November to the Chelsea neighborhood in Manhattan, is an immersive play experience that combines exploration, empowerment, and education in a one-hour live narrative that brings kids through 12 unique environments.
At the Luckybar booth we met the mom who created her own protein bars after becoming frustrated by her picky eater kids who only wanted plain carbs. Using high quality and nutritious ingredients, each bar contains 13 grams of protein — more than two eggs. These gluten-free, no preservatives, non-GMO bars are perfect for picky eaters like my daughter!
For families interested in the performing arts, the Bway Zone is a site that curates family-friendly shows from Broadway and national tours in the US and Canada. The site lets users get connected with Broadway shows, stars, and fans with a glimpse of behind the scenes magic.
Need a domain name? Domain.Me can help. The site lets users stand out from the crowd through its unique .Me domain. I love that the .ME domain is short, personal, and easy to remember.
Before we left, we made sure to stop by the Draw My Party Caricatures artists who provided my daughter with her own cute, creative caricature.
On our way out we received a gift bag filled with lots of cool items. Here’s a shout out to the brands who donated items for the bags:
Tickle Water – Delicious natural sparkling water in flavors kids will love like watermelon and green apple.
Baron Fig – Simple, useful, wonderfully-designed notebooks.
Neal Brothers Foods – All natural non-GMO Kettle Cooked Potato Chips in flavors like Srirachup, Montreal Steak Spice, Maple Bacon and Pink Himalayan Salt.
DtailsULike – Handmade artisan, dainty, elegant, and eclectic jewelry.
StoryArc Media – Online games, mobile apps, books, and more, including Poptropica and Galactic Hotdog Books.
Mabel’s Labels – Indispensable name labels for school supplies and gear.
Iscream – Kids fun lifestyle product company, the maker of BackPack Squishems like the bubble gum scented donuts Dog Mini Squishem.
Silicandy – The kids baking company the creates unique baking molds for homemade baby food, candy, and baking.
Attending the KidzVuz Back to School event was a great opportunity to not only view family-friendly brands, but also to spend quality time with my daughter. Thanks, KidzVuz!
