If you’re anything like me, you’ve probably spent time looking for fun and healthy drink ideas for your kids (something—anything—to keep them away from soda). This week, I thought I’d pull together some recipes healthy drinks that use Tickle Water. I’m always looking for healthy alternatives to give my son. As I’ve said before, that’s why I started Tickle Water in the first place. But with summertime coming up, I thought I would test out some mocktails! I turned my house into a test kitchen, and I’m including the results here.
Tickle Water comes in four flavors: Green Apple, Watermelon, Cola, and unflavored Sparkling Water. When I was first starting the company, finding the right flavors was such an important step. I met with a whole lot of kids in the process, and those four flavors were always favorites. We use flavoring that is entirely natural, so you never have to worry about any chemicals or colors.
As I’ve been finding out with my son, those flavors also work great as the starter for kid-friendly mocktails.
With Green Apple, you can drop in a few thinly sliced apple wedges or a small handful of raspberries. When they’re done drinking it, they’ll have a bit of fruit to eat, too.
With Tickle Water Watermelon I whipped up some Watermelon Spritzers. Put 2 cups of cubed watermelon in a blender. Add a splash of low-sugar white grape juice to help liquefy the watermelon. Fill ½ a glass with the purred watermelon juice and top off the 2nd half of the glass with Watermelon Tickle Water . Add a fun straw and there you have a pretty pink mocktail the kids love.
For Cola, I’ve found that some mint leaves or a few slices of lemon or lime pair well with the flavor.
You can do just about anything with the unflavored Sparkling Water flavor. One super easy, but sure winner is to just add a splash of fresh squeezed orange juice and a wedge of orange as a garnish—and boom, you have a kids Mimosa.
We’ve been having fun with ice cubes, too. Freeze an ice cube tray with pomegranate juice or pureed strawberries, drop them into a cup of Tickle Water for color and flavor. And don’t forget the straws! They always make drinks more fun.
As I’ve said before, I’m always interested in hearing from you. If you or your kids have come up with your own Tickle Water recipes, please let me know! I’ll try them out at home and share them here.
